The included Octoware control software

enables you to monitor complete system setup

via IP access, scan connected devices, edit user

profiles, and flash upgrade system components.

Octoware also monitors and stores the entire

system’s switching activities and logins, providing

you with a great deal of security.

LDAP integration enables seamless integration

into standard network security setups. If the

network link fails, the ServSwitch Octet is still

protected by its own proprietary security settings.

You can configure the ServSwitch Octet to

create SNMP traps to flag certain events. And

you can control the ServSwitch Octet via SNMP.

Listen up

A leading radio broadcaster needed to find

a way for their disk jockeys to be able to access

their individual show schedules and playlists.

Each user required individual access to particular

servers, but as he or she could be in a different

studio each day, setting up this access was

proving challenging.

The solution was the ServSwitch Octet, which

was installed using the broadcaster’s existing

CAT5 cabling infrastructure. Users could enter

any studio and log onto the Octet system using

their unique usernames and passwords. Once

logged in, they could see only the servers they

were authorized to use. The Octet system,

besides providing security through the existing

LDAP infrastructure, reports to the SNMP

management platform with all changes and

updates. It also provided the SNMP manager

with the option of remotely connecting users

to the servers, increasing security even more.
